Item12769: Upload image from clipboard
Priority: Enhancement
Current State: No Action Required
Released In: n/a
Target Release:
TopicInteractionPlugin is excellent, thanks a lot!
There is one remaining request which I hear a LOT from my colleagues: They want to upload images from the clipboard. Using the Windows Snipping tool (or similar screenshot tools on Windows or other platforms), uploading a new image would then become super-easy:
- Users takes a screenshot
- User switches to browser window displaying a TWiki topic
- User clicks "Attach"
- User pastes the image into a topic's attachment list.
- User starts upload
Compare this to the current upload sequence:
- Users takes a screenshot.
- A file browser pops up. User needs to think up and type a filename.
- User switches to browser window displaying a TWiki topic
- User clicks "Attach"
- User opens Windows Explorer and navigates to the directory where the screenshot was filed.
- User drags and drops the file into the attachment list.
- User starts upload
- User deletes the screenshot file on the disk.
- User closes the Explorer window which he opened just for the purpose of navigating to the screenshot file.
TopicInteractionPlugin already implements a rest handler for uploading, and it also provides an area in the attachment list UI which can be used to drop attachments. So this makes me think it could be simple to add "upload from clipboard" functionality based on the plugin. Help offered, of course, but I guess I'd need someone to point me into the right direction first...

TopicInteractionPlugin or its use of plupload.

ImagePlugin now is able to remove inlined images - as been created by copy&pasting it into the wysiwyg editor - and create proper images attaching them to the topic. Please reopen this item if you think this is doable otherwise.
