EditChapterPlugin installation problems

I am new to administering Foswiki and would like some help installing EditChapterPlugin.

I am assessing the feasibility of our intranet site moving from TWiki to Foswiki.

I would like to give users the option to edit parts of pages. At the moment we

use MultiEditPlugin but this is not available for Foswiki hence my trying EditChapterPlugin.

I have installed JQueryPlugin and EditChapterPlugin but do not see any links on

chapter headings. Some javascript relevant to the llinks is present in the html

when using IE6 ( still no links though ) but with Firefox and SeaMonkey the ENABLEEDITCHAPTER

tags appears as text and there is no javascript relating to edit links.

An example of tthe javascript from IE6 is as follows

<h2><a name="Test_2"></a> <span class="ecpHeading"><a name="chapter_main_edittest_2"></a> Test 2 <a class="ecpEdit" href=";cover=chapter;to=2;from=2;redirectto=;t=1259665462" title="Edit this chapter"><img src="/foswiki2/pub/System/EditChapterPlugin/pencil.png" height="16" width="16" border="0" /></a></span> </h2>
<p />
Test </div><!-- /foswikiTopic--

Moreover, is there a list of supported browser which are known to work well with EditChapterplugin?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Kind Regards

Can you check with some browser other than IE6? What is the error you are getting in Firefox? I use EditChapterPlugin and it works fine for FF and IE 7/8.

Hi Guruprasad,

It works with IE 8. Which versions of FF have you tried?

Doesn't work with FF 3.0.15

Doesn't work with SeaMonkey ( Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv: Gecko/20091017 SeaMonkey/2.0 )

Best Wishes

There is a conflict with JSPopupPlugin when using IE 8. The error is: Webpage error details

User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)
Timestamp: Wed, 9 Dec 2009 11:37:39 UTC

Message: Object doesn't support this property or method

Char: 216
Code: 0
URI: http://.../foswiki/pub/System/JQueryPlugin/jquery-1.3.2.js

With FF 3.5 it works fine and no js error occurs.

There doesn't seem to be. Let's start one. Please feel free to revise the information below.

Browser that is known to work with:

Browser that have issues with it:
Browser Problem
Firefox 3.0.15 ?
IE 6 SP2 No javascript error, but no edit links either. See Tasks.Item8372.
The one at works with IE6 though.
IE 8 It works, but there is a conflict if it is used with Extensions.JSPopupPlugin.
SeaMonkey 2.0 ?

The JSPopupPlugin often causes issues with other plugins that use JS (such as the DpSyntaxHighlighterPlugin, see Tasks.item2345. I created a bug for this.

IMHO, IE6 isn't an option nowadays for modern webapps anymore. You simply can't expect it to deliver the same usability as newer browsers.
