This question about Using an extension: Answered
EditChapterPlugin installation problems
Hi
I am new to administering Foswiki and would like some help installing
EditChapterPlugin.
I am assessing the feasibility of our intranet site moving from TWiki to Foswiki.
I would like to give users the option to edit parts of pages. At the moment we
use
MultiEditPlugin but this is not available for Foswiki hence my trying
EditChapterPlugin.
I have installed
JQueryPlugin and
EditChapterPlugin but do not see any links on
chapter headings. Some javascript relevant to the llinks is present in the html
when using IE6 ( still no links though ) but with Firefox and
SeaMonkey the ENABLEEDITCHAPTER
tags appears as text and there is no javascript relating to edit links.
An example of tthe javascript from IE6 is as follows
<h2><a name="Test_2"></a> <span class="ecpHeading"><a name="chapter_main_edittest_2"></a> Test 2 <a class="ecpEdit" href="http://myserver.com/foswiki2/bin/edit/Main/EditTest?nowysiwyg=on;cover=chapter;to=2;from=2;redirectto=http://myserver.com/foswiki2/bin/view/Main/EditTest%23chapter_main_edittest_2;t=1259665462" title="Edit this chapter"><img src="/foswiki2/pub/System/EditChapterPlugin/pencil.png" height="16" width="16" border="0" /></a></span> </h2>
<p />

Moreover, is there a list of supported browser which are known to work well with
EditChapterplugin?
Thanks in advance for any help on this.
Kind Regards
Neil
Can you check with some browser other than IE6? What is the error you are getting in Firefox? I use EditChapterPlugin and it works fine for FF and IE 7/8.

There is a conflict with
JSPopupPlugin when using IE 8. The error is:

With FF 3.5 it works fine and no js error occurs.

The
JSPopupPlugin often causes issues with other plugins that use JS (such as the
DpSyntaxHighlighterPlugin, see
Tasks.item2345. I created a
bug for this.

IMHO, IE6 isn't an option nowadays for modern webapps anymore. You simply can't expect it to deliver the same usability as newer browsers.
