Unexpected results using RCS subdir
Just for fun, I decided to see what would happen if I create an RCS subdir in one of my wiki web dirs and moved all of my
,v
files into it.
When I edited one of my topics, I got an error:
However, when I moved the
,v
files back to the upper directory and edited (the same) topic again, there was no error and this time the
,v
file appeared in the RCS sub dir.
I'm... perplexed.
I didn't see anything obvious in the error logs but a) I might have looked in the wrong log and b) there was a lot of stuff in the logs.

Don't know on this one. Certainly
RcsStore has no knowledge of subdirectories for the rcs info. It may depend upon versions of the external rcs tool. For ex,
man RCS
reports"
-i Create and initialize a new RCS file, but do not deposit any revision. If the RCS file name has no directory component, try to place it first into the subdirectory ./RCS, and then into the current directory. If the RCS file already exists, print an error message.
However because Foswiki knows nothing about rcs files in subdirectories, this is rather fraught with danger.
