Because this is a major overhaul, I don't expect this to go into 1.1.

The target release is specified as 1.1.1. If that is the case, let's keep this open until 1.1.0 is out. Currently this code is only in trunk.

I really like the work, jqcycle is the right tool for the job. But I also think this isn't quite finished; ability to type+jump to a page is great, but we are now missing the original pager functions first/back/forward/last so it's awkward to go back one slide.

Where are you missing the pager functions? You should see them at the top.

And you think I would deliver such a thing?
Please update SVN and re-install the plugin ...
You will be surprised

I had a try with this in trunk and really like it!
One suggestion: could it be enhanced so that you can use the left and right arrows on the keyboard to scroll backwards and forwards through the slides?

I have added the suggestion.
This is how the demo slideshow looks:

I've changed the
ReleasedIn from 1.1.1 to 1.2 because this has only been committed on trunk so far. Created
Item9725 for the job of merging this to Release01x01 branch.

This was all reverted, copied into svn scratch branch. Changing to New.
And changing to No Action.
