Test case:
  • I define a topic (called MySourceTopic) in one web that contains a subscribe tag that includes the web reference like this %SUBSCRIBE{topic="%BASEWEB%.%BASETOPIC%"}% . Note: without the web reference, it tries to insert the subscription to WebNotify in the web where MySourceTopic resides. This fails if change in that web is restricted.
  • I place an INCLUDE in MyTestTopic in another web which references MySourceTopic.
  • A user clicks on "Subscribe" in MyTestTopic. The result is that the user is subscribed to all topics in the web where MyTestTopic resides. I.e. The subscription is placed into the correct WebNotify topic, but does not include the proper topic reference.

Possible approaches to solve this:
  • The subscription is automatically entered into the WebNotify topic of the web where the referenced topic resides.
  • Add a web attribute (in addition to the existing topic attribute).

changed Subscribe to work with (child count), and modified MailerContrib to reduce code duplication.
