Item14354: WebCreateNewTopic produces empty page (0 Bytes)

The template for WebCreateNewTopic ( newtopic.nat.tmpl ) is broken in the latest release (25 Jan 2017) . It results in an empty page. I haven't identified the errant coding in that file but I did note that it fails to include the view template, instead including the non-existant newtopic.tmpl . Even fixing that only results in a standard foswiki page with no content . I have worked around the problem by renaming the template newtopic.old.tmpl (which thankfully was included in the release ) to newtopic.nat.tmpl . I have a working Topic Creation page now, but assume it may be missing new features that are in the broken newtopic.nat.tmpl

Confirmed. This shouldn't happen.

Note however that NatSkin is following a completely different create-new-topic flow using the "New" button at the top of every page. It will open a modal dialog that lets you choose among the TopicTypes and templates deployed to a web.

For background info, I discovered the problem doing a site wide broken links scan. The broken links were in the WebStatistics and WebChanges topics - from the time before NatSkin was installed . So yes not an urgent problem as I first thought, just confusing 8-( .

I have Foswiki 2.1.4 and I'm using NatSkin. When I click new topic I just see the input for topic name, I don't get any other options for templates, etc. I came here from another TaskWeb: https://foswiki.org/Tasks/Item2089

Looking at https://demo.michaeldaumconsulting.com/bin/view/Sandbox/WebCreateNewTopic the error doesn't seem to be present anymore in the latest NatSkin version. In general, the "WebCreateNewTopic" approach to create new topics isn't recommended in NatSkin. Instead there is a "+ New" button on every page that opens the "NatSkinTopicCreator" dialog.
