Foswiki.org reports "Warning: Updates found for 1 extension(s)". Out of curiosity I wondered which one - but the banner doesn't say. So I followed the link, to configure, where I am dumped into the main UI. OK, that's not great, but I know roughly what I'm doing, so I open Extensions and Review Installed Extensions to see which extension is out of date. A visual scan of the installed extension indicates that they are all the latest version.

Ideally:
  1. The update message would indicate which extension requires updating
  2. The link would lead me to the installed extensions page
  3. The update would be obvious on that page

There is a bug somewhere in the version checking, I thought I had it tracked down and update in 2.0.1 or 2.0.2 .. but missed something. It would indeed be useful to report what plugin actually needs update. It was difficult to debug.

Setting this to Low. The issue is that the ControlWikiWordPlugin was uploaded with a new VERSION string, but using the same RELEASE string 1.4. Configure decided that the identical RELEASE strings, in the presence of a $Rev$ style VERSION was sufficient. UpdatesPlugin detected the VERSION change from $Rev$ to 1.4, to need an update.

Ideally, both cases should detect an update, but the underlying cause was an incorrect release of an extension.

I have a freshly installed foswiki and get this message as well. It is a bit annoying as I do not know which extension is the outdated one.

We did an interim release of the ModPerlEngineContrib. I've fixed this for our next release - the banner will now report the list of extensions it found.
