Item13809: Permissions inheritance

Not sure if this is a bug report, a feature request or a simple lack of knowledge. Also I've hesitated to open this tasks since it duplicates more or less Support.Question1691

Within a Classified web, I'd like to maintain some group-based permissions. So far I have tested the following :

• create sub Classified webs : great for permissions, but I could not see categories and tags across these webs
• assign permissions to a category topic, but the topics assigned to this category do not inherit permissions defined in the category topic

Is there another way to achieve this goal ? (except by assigning permissions topic per topic)

This is a deliberate design decision not to use categories for access control due to performance concerns. Please use webs for this. Categories can be shared among webs using the sub categories feature: have a look at the "Sub Categories" tab editing a category.
