The User Registration page is supposed to present group member options if enabled gy site preferences:

#Set REGISTRATIONGROUPTYPE = one
#Set REGISTRATIONGROUPS = NewUserGroup

Works fine on 1.1.9, No group selection added on Foswiki 1.2. The group code is there on the page, just not active. Either needs a documentation fix on how to enable the feature, or needs to be fixed. Either way, it's a blocker.
