Item12628: Rationalize the multiple methods of setting the edit box window size
Priority: Urgent
Current State: No Action Required
Released In: 1.2.0
Target Release: minor
See
Item12607. There are 3 separate mechanisms for setting the size of the edit box.
- Deprecated EDITBOXHEIGHT setting
- Buttons on lower right corner of edit box. Sets a cookie.
- Corner drag of the window. (not remembered)
There are good points made for preserving the EDITBOXHEIGHT setting in
Item12607. In addition, the cookie overrides topic preference settings regardless of any use of FINAL and this is surprising.

As the editor has been completely replaced with
NatEditPlugin, none of the features listed above apply anymore as the height of the edit window is managed automatically. See
AddNatEditToCore as well as the video at
MergeWYSIWYGEditors. Note that the video is pretty old. The grab corners added by the browser to the lower right corner aren't there anymore.
So:
- EDITBOXHEIGHT does play a role in the new editor
- There aren't any buttons anymore to influence the height of the textarea; nor are there any cookies being set.
- No grab-corners, as already mentioned.
I can't see a required action in that respect.
