Item1197: configure extension installer fails with taint error

When trying to install a plugin like ActionTrackerPlugin I get

"Insecure dependency in open while running with -T switch at /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/i386-linux-thread-multi/IO/File.pm line 192."

These taint errors keep on popping up in configure more than anywhere else. I am very close to removing the taint check in configure

I tried to reproduce this, and I believe so did Olivier. neither of us could, so I can only guess it is something related to your environment; for example, do you have locales switched on? (that can sometimes result in a mysterious taint error)

This happens on Mac OS X 10.5.6 as well, because Apple has reverted a newer Perl file IO::File.

I am closing this and opening a new that says something like "need to reapply taint check in configure"

I do this to have a closed bug report for 1.0.4
