Porting the definitions for SAS (statistical programming) and for R or S-plus (statistical programming) would be very helpful.

You could port HFile_sas and HFile_s from PHP to PM yourself and provide them back as I did once to get support for XML. It's not that difficult. It looks that there even are conv and convall Skripts for this. Good luck.
