Item11631: can't insert a link to an image attachment
Priority: Urgent
Current State: Duplicate
Released In: 1.2.0
Target Release: minor
In the "manage attachments" dialog there's a button that allows to insert a link to an attachment.
It does so for non-images, like a link to a pdf. It does not insert a "link" to an image. It inserts an <img /> tag.
Inserting an
image itself is available using the "insert image" dialog. People would not expect to see an "insert img"
when they click on "insert link".
As a consequence, I can't insert an image to a page and then make it link to the full-size attachment.
I am not sure in how far this is a dedicated foswiki problem, or a plain bug in tinymce.

This is working as designed / documented. The Pattern skin, and on (tm) wiki before it, both state:
Create a link to the attached file. Images will be displayed, for other attachments a link will be created.
I would definitely not want to see the attach function changed to only insert links, so this probably needs a new feature - to insert image links.

Imho, this should be streamlined: when the button says "insert link" it should do that, no matter what kind of attachment that is.
Inserting the
image is available using the "insert image" button. Having the somewhat same features available on both buttons doesnt make sense.
The feature "insert link to image" simply isn't there at all.

It's possible that
TinyMCEPlugin is emulating some crappy behaviour we had until
Item11189 was fixed (duplicate of
Item2507).
This is a duplicate of
Item11214

I think George is referring to when you attach a file to a topic, but I think Michael is referring to when you insert a link in the wysiwyg when editing a topic..
