What about:
*WebHome and WebHome more*
renders as:
WebHome and WebHome more
Any markup adjacent to a wikiword makes it non-linking.

A fascinating problem is
Question764, where asian (logographic) languages don't really have the same concept of whitespace. So effectively, they expect xxxxx*yyyyy*zzzzz to produce xxxxx
yyyyyzzzzz

one small warning - this oddity has come up at least twice in the codebase's existance, and both times the code was reverted back very quickly because there are lots of annoying corner cases in which this (really friggen stupid) functionality was made use of.
if we do manage to change it, be prepared to annoy alot of people

At the risk of lighting a fire, that's not a bug, that's a feature. Use of punctuation to control wikiword expansion is - for better or for worse = endemic in Foswiki content. I do not believe we can change this. No action.
