Can I reuse the TWiki .htpasswd file?

I am upgrading from TWiki version Fri, 31 Mar 2006 build 9626 for Foswiki 1.08. The upgrade instructions say to copy my data/.htpasswd file over from TWiki to Fosswiki. However my TWiki password doesn't work. Both the old and new installations are using crypt. Am I going to have to ask all my users to change their passwords, or is there some simple thing I can do to allow the old passwords to work? Thanks.

(later) It appears that I can reuse the .htpasswd file on the same host, the problem was that I was not only migrating from TWiki to Foswiki, but also using another host. Presumably the crypt salt is different on the other machine.
