How do I setup a fixed ip address in the raw vm appliance?

Hi

I have installet linux and foswiki on my esx server by importing tha appliance, but i need to configure it to use a fixed ip adresse default gateway and dns address of the domain.

This seems to be more a linux and vmware question than a foswiki one.

I have not used the vm foswiki but in linux you can change the ip address in /etc/network/interfaces. There are different modes of operation of the vmware interfaces, if you go for a fixed ip address I suggest you to use bridged mode. NAT mode requires a deeper understanding of how NAT works, the services involved and how vmware implements them.

Set your vmware box's network device to "Bridged mode", boot up, login as root and alter the ip address in /etc/networking/interfaces or wherever that linux stores the ip configuration.
