How to search topic name in SolrPlugin WebSearch results

A user pointed out to me that they can enter a string (upper, lower or mixed case) in the top-left search box and the auto-suggest drop-down will include results where that string is part of the topic name. However, if one then hits return, searching that same string on WebChanges will not include the same topic unless it is completely spelled out (e.g. won't find the partial string). After some further testing, it appears to me that the SolrPlugin version of WebSearch does not include the topic name in the record fields searched.

I tried to figure out how this behavior could be modified within SolrSearchBaseTemplate but wasn't successful. Can anyone suggest the best/easiest way to tweak the default behavior of SolrPlugin to include the actual topic names in the field values searched?
