This question about Topic Markup Language and applications: Answered

Need Multiple WebTopicEditTemplate (or equiv)

Hi World:

A have a fairly simple self-maintained database which is used by many engineers; who are wiki literate, but not wiki experts. The database has recently expanded to encompass several classes of information and to prevent confusion and encourage consistency it would be convenient if each of these sections had its own Template page when a new topic is created. Conceptually something like a pop-up or drop down menu enabling me to select the "WebTopicEditTemplate" used when a new topic page is created would be ideal.

I appreciate that this could be achieved by establishing independent-but-linked sections (Wiki Webs), but this is not encouraged as there are already lots of sections in our corporate wiki (It introduces other problems too). It has got to be easy to do, and as I have fought around this limitation on two occasions before, I can't believe it hasn't already been addressed by somebody.

So, anybody out there with an answer for me please ...

If you define different TemplateTopics in your web, then they should automatically show up in the drop down in the form to create new topics just as you describe (this is true both in Pattern and Nat Skins). The WebTopicEditTemplate is only the default template for new topics.
