Topic upload from remote system

I'm looking for a good way to automatically publish information which is produced by a remote system on my foswiki server. I know I can easily sftp this as a *.txt file into the data/web path and foswiki will pick it up as a new topic. But then I have to deal with OS users and permissions. Is there a better method known like using POST requests or is any plugin offering such an automated information upload?

The The %INCLUDE macro has a "url" style include which can GET content from other systems. However it's currently disabled by default as it is an "all or nothing" feature. Evil content from other external sources can also be included, so it is generally not recommended that it be enabled. There is a feature request: ConfigurableURLIncludes that now has a developer committed. But it will probably be a while before this makes it into a release.
