I'm an extremely happy user of the original TWiki, looking forward to playing with Foswiki and porting things across so I can muck around with bleeding edge again.

At work we still use an old forked version of the TWiki since 2003 which I maintain for my Company as a:
  • Knowledge base
  • Change Control Management Process
  • Tasks system
    • with automatic links to our cvs repository

We use the old 2003 codebase mainly because:
  • as an internal wiki (so don't have to worry about security fixes)
  • last time I checked (2008) the code changes since then haven't been compelling enough for a merge or switch over
  • using a custom version of the tiger skin and it's okay, looking forward to something better
  • we had backported fixes from 4.1.2 as required

We also use a patched version of the old Cache Addon since 2004 to aggressively cache pages (on first view or after edits) (with custom checks to invalidate the cache based on our sites assumptions) which, at the time, allowed us to run the wiki on really old sun gear.

I'm looking forward to downloading and playing with Foswiki Release 1.1.9. I'll import my old data and see what works and what breaks. The niffy WYSIWYG editing of topics will certainly make my users happier.
