Welcome to the LOSTG Wiki Rules Page. This is an experiment of sorts. I personally have minimal exposure to wiki sites generally. That said, I’ve been told (or read) that wiki sites provide an easy medium for collaboration. And that, my boys, is what we need for LOSTG. More importantly, we need to stay outside of the inboxes of those that simply don’t want to participate in any rules discussions.

So, for those of you new to wiki’s, the concept is simple really. Just think of this page and the pages that are connected as MS Word documents that can be edited collaboratively by each of us. The advantage of trying to come up with proposals this way as opposed to, say, e-mail, is that we don’t have to go back and track individual contributions/input. All input will be consolidated on one central source, this wiki site. And at the end of the process, the hope is that we’ll have a set of proposals ready for submission to the league as a whole for vote.

At any rate, that’s the hope. That said, it may very well be that we have no proposals whatsoever to propose. And if that is the outcome of this process, then so be it. That’s not necessarily a bad outcome. It just means we’ll have a league that is identical to last year.

So here it goes. Please dig in. All you have to do is click on the wiki link(s) that you wish to participate in. Within those links you will find the following basic framework:

(a) Summary of Input from League

(b) Dialogue

(c) Proposal(s)

The basic idea is that the summary of input from the league will be provided by me, the Commish, as I receive it. Hopefully this will serve as some context for your task at hand and perhaps influence whatever decisions you end up making as a group.

The “Dialogue” section is where I would hope you simply provide your own input to the committee. In order to give some semblance of structure to this dialogue box, I am asking each contributor to please indicate where they've provided input by putting their name in brackets after any contributions.

The “Proposal” section is simply the collaborative proposal that the group produces for the league to vote on.

So without further ado, please dig in. We’ll see how this goes together.

Injuries

Well, this is perhaps the most contentious of the potential rule changes. Put it this way, this is by far the most constant source of complaints/emails from league owners. Everybody hates injuries. But more to the point, everybody hates the fact that they can do very little about injuries in our league. You are basically completely out of luck if you get that nasty mid-week ankle sprain.

So, come on guys, come up with something. Anything. Let’s just get something that allows owners to manage these injuries in some fashion. Now, the easiest resolution is daily changes. But we all know that doesn’t stand much of a chance at all for league approval. There are simply to many owners in the league who don’t have the time to make daily lineup changes and the reality is that such a league change will have less to do with injuries than it will just maximizing starts.
