Feature Proposal: Public IM-ing system bit like IRC

Motivation

For my company's Fowsiki, would be very handy if on the main page of the wiki people could chat to each other in an easy and accessible way

Description and Documentation

Best implemented as a plugin? Would be like an IRC chatroom or a Shout Box such as many discussion boards have nowadays

Discussion

Yes, I too would like something like this smile But yes, a plugin is the right way to go.

I'm rejecting this, not because it isn't a good idea, but as suggested, a plugin or extension is the way to go. Anyone can build an extension without dealing with the red-tape of feature proposals. These are more for changes in foswiki core, or adding new extensions into the core.

It should be relatively easy to integrate jQuery-Shoutbox into a Wiki page, but that's of course no dynamic real-time chat feature, which registers who of the Wikis users are currently on the Wiki (viewing a page) and with whom you can thus chat (exchange messages). That would be a really nice feature.
